Twenty-seven southern belles and gentlemen are now in the loving care of the Richmond SPCA.
Last Friday, the Richmond SPCA came to the rescue of homeless dogs and cats who were displaced from the Darlington County Humane Society's shelter in South Carolina in the wake of Hurricane Florence's devastation.
Volunteers from Florida Urgent Rescue (FUR) transported these 14 dogs and 15 cats (including one about to have kittens) to the Richmond SPCA where we met them with open arms, love and medical care.
A lot of medical care.
More than half of the dogs from South Carolina have tested positive for heartworms, an expensive diagnosis that costs more than $200 to treat. We will deliver this essential treatment to these precious dogs prior to making them available for adoption to loving, lasting homes.
Four other dogs like Delilah have exhibited signs of skin disease, which our veterinary services team will diagnose and treat. In the coming days, Wildflower will give birth to a litter of kittens who will need around-the-clock care for several weeks. Each dog and cat who arrived to us unsterilized will be spayed or neutered in our Susan M. Markel Veterinary Hospital before we match each one with a new adoptive family
Please be their hero today and make your gift to support their care. Together, we will guarantee each of these 27 lucky new RVA residents a bright future full of love.
Make your gift today before our fiscal year ends on September 30.
