This month, our beloved Chief Executive Officer Robin Robertson Starr celebrates her 20th anniversary at the Richmond SPCA.
Robin has been a visionary and courageous leader of our organization and of the no-kill animal welfare movement nationally. Robin’s commitment to progressive thinking and innovating over two decades, coupled with the help and support of our wonderful Board of Directors, volunteers, staff and you – our generous friends – have revolutionized our community’s approach to resolving pet homelessness.
Over the past 20 years, in pursuit of making Richmond a no-kill community, Robin has led the organization in developing pioneering programs and services that are responsible for the achievement of an ever-increasing live release rate for homeless animals communitywide. The Richmond SPCA’s provision of massive numbers of spay and neuter surgeries; low-cost, full-service veterinary care to pets of low-income guardians; free pet behavior support; humane education; adoption; pet rehabilitation and more has been crucial to the achievement of a citywide live release rate in 2016 that is in excess of 90 percent.
In April, Maddie’s Fund®, a California-based family foundation, honored Robin with a Maddie Hero Award in recognition of her immense lifesaving work.
This award is very important because Maddie's Fund has been at the very heart of the no-kill movement since it formed, and the foundation’s recognition is a powerful statement about Robin’s and the Richmond SPCA’s significance to the national no-kill movement.
Please join us in congratulating Robin on her 20 years of leadership of the Richmond SPCA and her vast achivements for the protection of animals by sponsoring a star for display in our humane center’s lobby during the months of June and July. Please visit www.richmondspca.org/superstarrs to make your gift in honor of Robin.
Your generous support makes our lifesaving work possible. Thank you for fighting for the animals who need us so much!
