One morning when I was driving in the dark on my way to school, I saw a woman, whom I now know is named Emily, walking by herself down Cary Street, and I was alarmed for her. Suddenly, her bluetick coonhoud came out of the shadows, and I knew she was safe. About a year or so later, I was parking at Ukrop's on Cary Street, and Emily and Simon came walking by. While I was petting him, I introduced myself and told her my story of concern for her. Afterwards, she told me about Simon's rescue and how he never learned love and trust until he came to live with her. I still remember talking with her that day because her story has stayed in my heart. I'm so happy to learn that things continue to go well for both Emily and Simon.

What a wonderful story. I wish everyone could know the joy of unconditional love from a dog like Simon.
