We had an amazing week in our adoption center with 57 adoptions! Our goal for next week is 59 adoptions. To see updates about our alumni in their new homes, check out our Facebook and tumblr pages for news and pictures.
A shout out to our awesome staff
Last Friday, March 1, was Employee Appreciation Day. Our dedicated staff members give their time, talent and heart to the animals in our care every single day, making a huge difference in each dog and cat's life. We can't thank them enough! Please help us show our staff how much they are appreciated within our humane center and beyond by liking and sharing this photo on our Facebook page. To our staff – thank you for everything!
Here are the dogs who found loving homes this past week:
From top left to bottom right: (pets not pictured are italicized) Babs, Beauty, Brick, Brook, Carrie, Chandler, Clifford, Daisy, Darren, Diva, Doodles, Emerson, Gunther, Hemingway, Leah, Luxor, Moses, Nell, Nina, Odessa, Oscar, Othello, Ozzy, Peaches, Pongo, Raphael, Rosland, Shenzi, Tanner, Turnip
After working with her trainer here at the Richmond SPCA, Jackie, and her new guardians to gain trust, Leah went home! Because she was nervous and skeptical of unfamiliar things, Leah worked extensively with our behavior staff to gain confidence and comfort in her own skin. Jackie passed her tricks and tools on to Leah's new guardians to continue her training at home. We are thrilled that Leah is now sharing a home with another Richmond SPCA alumnus (she loves playing with other dogs) and people who are as kind and patient as she needs them to be. We wish them all the best! Our sincerest thanks to the many staff members who helped Leah learn, grow and find a home to call her own.
Here are the cats who found loving homes this past week:
From top left to bottom right: (pets not pictured are italicized) Agnes, Annie, Armani, Bitsy, Brandy, Celeste, Checker, Cocoa, Dominick, Dusty, Figaro, Garner, Haley, Iris, Jennifer, Kimmie, Kisses, Lavender, Lexie, Lynx, Milton, Monty, Mouse, Olivia, Sandra, Taft, Taylor
Brandy was adopted with Cocoa and the two are doing very well in their new home! Brandy came into our care in September 2008 and had been in our humane center ever since (expect for the time she spent in foster care for a change of scenery). This sweet and independent girl was overlooked by many until Rachel, her new guardian, came in looking for a cat just like Brandy - they each found their purr-fect match, as did Cocoa! Click here to congratulate the family on finding one another. Thanks to Christie Ann Bieber, a member of our Dog Jog Committee, who Rachel said "suckered me into getting one step closer to crazy-cat-lady-ville," and to Tessa, one of our amazing adoption counselors, for the successful matches made!
