What a week we've had! We're celebrating here at the Richmond SPCA, not just because of the upcoming holiday, but because we blew past our weekly adoption goal! 112 pets – 78 cats and 34 dogs – will be spending the 4th of July in permanent, loving homes. We are so excited with these numbers and hope our adoptions keep increasing. Our goal for the coming week it to place 100 pets.
With the celebrations surrounding the 4th of July, be sure to remember your animals! Fireworks often startle pets, causing them to flee. As a precaution, make sure your pets' identification is up to date, whether that is a tag or a microchip (best option – both!). Microchipping your animals is one of the best forms of identification if your pet does get lost. We realize the importance of this form of identification, so all the pets adopted from the Robins-Starr Humane Center are microchipped before going to their new homes. Through our Clinic for Compassionate Care, your pet can be microchipped too, at an affordable price. Many pets get lost on July 4th, so please be sure to keep your animals safely away from the potentially frightening festivities! Off-site adoption:
In addition to the cats at our center, we also currently have nine wonderful felines greeting shoppers at two Petco locations in the Richmond area – Short Pump and Staples Mill. Whether you're looking for a "leader of the band" like Paisley, or prefer a "private investigator" like Mattie, don't overlook these fanstastic felines!
Adoption Specials:
Two's Company: Throughout July, you can adopt any two cats, six months and older, for a single adoption fee of $95. We hope you take advantage of this special because everything in life is better with a buddy!
