The last week in September is one of our busiest times. This is the week when we bring our fiscal year to a close and start the new year with a splash. On October 1 we will hold the Twelfth Annual Fur Ball at The Jefferson Hotel with a goal of raising $410,000 for the Cinderella Fund. This fund will pay for the treatment and rehabilitation of ill, injured and underage animals at our Robins-Starr Humane Center in the next year.
While tickets to the Fur Ball sold out in early August, there are still ways to help. You can make a donation directly to the Cinderella Fund, or purchase a raffle ticket. Fur Ball Raffle tickets will be available until 5 p.m. Thursday. Each $5 purchase goes to help pets in our care receive the veterinary care needed to give them the second chance they so greatly deserve. There are 24 fabulous prizes on this year's Fur Ball raffle, including vacation and dining packages, entertainment, sports and pet packages
A multitude of Richmond-area businesses and individuals contribute items not only to the Fur Ball raffle but also to the live and silent auctions that make this black tie event the most fun and least stuffy gala in Richmond. While the Fur Ball is our largest annual fundraiser, it begins a busy event season with many opportunities to have a great time with your pet while supporting homeless animals. Start preparing your costumes for our Seventh Annual Cat Tales and Cocktails benefit on Friday, Oct. 29. Sponsorships are still available for this pet-friendly Howl-O-Ween party, and we're assembling a fantastic silent auction. For more information, contact Jenni Booker, or purchase advance tickets online.
