Love at first sight. It may be hotly debated in the world of romance, but any of our adoption counselors could testify to the power of kismet to unite homeless dogs or cats with visitors to our Robins-Starr Humane Center. While we wish every visitor to our adoption center might meet their match right away, sometimes the chemistry just isn’t right. Some visitors peek into our dog kennels or cat habitats with the image of their perfect pet set in their minds. Perhaps it’s a weight limit established by their apartment lease or a cat with a particular look that reminds them of a dearly departed pet, some have their hearts set on the type of pet they’d like to adopt.
For many years, our adoption counselors kept a “wish book” in which visitors could enter special requests, and the counselors would regularly compare our newly arrived pets with the requests that had been made in order to call those who had entered a similar request. While connections were made from the wish book, the time has come for a reboot.
With the help of PetBridge by Baseline Creative, the process of finding your match at our Robins-Starr Humane Center has come into the modern era. Whether you have visited our center in person or browsed our available cats and dogs online, if none capture your heart right away, enter your request into our Match Finder tool. Once your request is submitted and confirmed by email, you will automatically receive an email each time a pet that matches your request becomes available for adoption. Each Match Finder email includes the name of the pet in our care and a link to his or her profile on our website. We welcome you to help us test it, and perhaps the Match Finder tool will help you find the perfect animal companion you’ve been waiting to meet!
