Richmond International Raceway has gone to the dogs! Today, we’re celebrating our first Take Your Dog to Work Day as part of the national event happening in offices across the country. Started in 1999 by Pet Sitters International, the purpose of the event is to showcase what excellent companions our dogs are and promote pet adoptions locally.
We’re also using this opportunity to show our support for the Richmond SPCA. For a donation, our staff is welcome to bring their pups to the office for a fun-filled afternoon. As part of our dedication to community outreach, RIR will be matching each donation as a single contribution to the no-kill humane society.
This is a win-win situation for our staff pet parents. Not only do our pets get to join us for the afternoon, but we’re also coming together as a team to make a worthwhile contribution. Take Your Dog to Work Day’s official website gave us plenty of recommendations and tools to ensure the day is a great success. And productivity issues? Employees in dog-friendly work environments often cite being more creative, productive and relaxed at work.
I know my nine-month-old puppy Bowser (pictured) will love racing around the office with the rest of the RIR pack. We look forward to continuing this tradition at Richmond International Raceway for years to come.
