While we were three adoptions shy of last week's goal, the 49 pets – 20 cats and 29 dogs – who are starting the week in new, loving homes surely count it as a successful week of lifesaving. Our adoption goal for the week ahead is to find homes for 76 pets. For each pet placed in a home through adopiton, our admissions team is also hard at work transferring homeless dogs and cats to our facility from government pounds and shelters throughout the Metro Richmond area. When you adopt a pet from the Robins-Starr Humane Center, it's like saving two lives because it gives us space to help another animal in great need.
Off-site adoption event:
This Saturday and Sunday, May 26 and 27, our Tail Wag'N will be at Cooper Vineyards for Lucy's Weekend. The event is named for Lucy, a hound mix who was found on a lonely country road, terribly injured and in need of a home. She brought many years of joy to her guardian Jacque Hogge, co-owner of Cooper Vineyards, which continues to host Lucy's Weekend in her honor. This fun weekend of events benefits and celebrates animals just like Lucy. Lawn chairs, picnics and leashed pets are welcome.
Adoption special:
We've reduced the adoption fee for select cats at our center to $25. Look for the bright pink signs througout our adoption center or ask an adoption counselor for more information. As always, each adopted pet is already spayed or neutered, up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations and microchipped.
