Although we did not reach our adoption goal last week, it is a great success that our adoption team placed 42 pets – 29 dogs and 13 cats – in loving new homes. Our goal this week is an ambitious 70 adoptions. If you are considering adding a new pet to your family, we hope you will plan a visit to our Robins-Starr Humane Center. The pets available for adoption are constantly changing, and you will find many new, eager faces of dogs and cats to greet you, along with the friendly, knowledgable adoption team who will help you Meet Your Match.
Adoption specials: We have three great specials available all month long.
April is "Adopt a Senior Cat Month"! All cats ages 5 years and older are available for the reduced adoption fee of $60 until the end of the month.
Every Tuesday in April is "Two for Tuesday." Adopt any pair of pets for a single, low adoption fee.
Every Thursday in April is "30 Percent Thursday." Adoption fees are discounted by 30 percent.
Off-site adoptions: There aren't any off-site adoptions scheduled for this week, but you can always find our cats awaiting adoption at the Petco stores in Short Pump and on Staples Mill Road.
Special event: Like most expecting the arrival of a little bundle of joy, the Richmond SPCA has registered for items needed to care for the little ones. The difference? Our newborns are kittens, and last year we placed more than 1,200 into foster care. Help us prepare! We are hosting a Kitten Shower this Saturday, April 14 from noon to 4 p.m.
If you can bring your donations to our center during this time, you can enjoy refreshments and learn more about our Meet the Fosters program. If you can't come to the shower, you can still help. Donated items from our registry can be brought to our center during regular business hours. Along with purchasing supplies, you can help spread the message. Please commit to sharing the registry list with at least 10 friends.

Piper, now Stella, has adjusted to life in our home beautifully. She paced the house when we brought her home for 1-2 hours, and then curled up to sleep on my daughter and I. She has been relaxed and playful ever since. What a fabulous disposition she has. We are happy she is finally home! Thank you SPCA - Michele
